Fillmore County CASA provides Court Appointed Special Advocates for youth in the juvenile court system who are victims of abuse and/or neglect. These youth for the most part are removed from their homes and placed in foster care for their safety and wellbeing. Fillmore County CASA provides a well trained volunteer to advocate and be a child’s “voice” in juvenile and family court. A CASA volunteer is sometimes the only consistent person in the child’s life through a very difficult time. A CASA volunteer looks out for the “best interest” of the child and makes recommendations to the court on the child’s behalf. Being a CASA volunteer can truly make a difference for a child in need, especially if they have been traumatized or removed from their home.
